LED TVs Use LED Light Bulbs to Save Energy

Are LED TVs better?

Did you know that new flat-screen TVs use LED bulbs to light the LCD panels inside? This technology can save a lot of energy and they are constantly being updated and improved. The two different kinds of LED lighting inside of LCD TVs are Full-Array vs. Edge-Lit. A TV with full-array technology will have a bank of LED bulbs that covers the entire back surface of the LED TV. Just like it sounds, edge-lit technology employs LED bulbs only around the edges of the LED TV screen.

Full-array TV technology allows for superior contrast ratio and greater overall picture quality because specific groups of LED bulbs can be selectively dimmed. As you can imagine, LED TVs use less energy because they need less bulbs to light up the displays. Some LED TVs use 20% to 30% less energy than a traditional, older style LCD TV. The LED bulbs also last much longer than other television lighting technologies.

And then there is the newer Quantum Dot technology which gives you more than a billion colors and 100% color volume.  This television is designed with a no-bezel screen that spills over the edge and the Q looks gorgeous from every side whether mounted on the wall or on a stand. This technology gives you brilliant whites and stunning blacks.

I personally love Samsung TV’s because of their superior picture quality. I currently have this TV and when it goes out I will get another one just like it, but probably with even newer technology, and that saves even more energy. This particular model uses edge backlighting technology and the picture is beautiful. For the price, it’s one of the best values available and boasts the following energy guide:

Sixteen dollars a year in energy costs is not bad for a huge TV and tons of entertainment. Amazon also offers free shipping and this TV gets great reviews.

People are doing great things with LED bulbs today, and I can only imagine the fantastic technology they will be part of in the future.
