BR30 Bulb
A bulge reflector shape 3.75 inches in diameter, designed for recessed can fixtures. Produces a wide, even flood of light directed downward.
BR30 bulbs are purpose-built for recessed can fixtures — the "BR" stands for bulge reflector, describing the bulged shape that directs light downward in a wide, even flood. At 3.75 inches in diameter, they're designed to fit standard 5-inch and 6-inch recessed cans.
The reflector coating on the inside of the bulb bounces light forward, which is why BR30s are more efficient than A19s in a recessed can — less light gets trapped above the fixture. A typical BR30 has a beam angle around 110°, creating a broad wash of light that's ideal for general room illumination from ceiling height.
When shopping for BR30 LEDs, you'll also see PAR30 as an alternative. PAR30s have a more controlled beam with a sharper edge — better for highlighting specific areas. BR30s produce a softer, more diffused spread. For most living rooms and bedrooms, BR30 is the better choice.
