Clear Bulb
A bulb with transparent glass that shows the LED filament or chips inside. Produces sharper, more decorative light with visible sparkle.
Clear bulbs let you see directly through the glass to the light source inside — whether that's an LED filament designed to mimic vintage Edison bulbs or a modern chip array. The visual result is sparkle: distinct points of light that reflect off glasses, cutlery, and crystal in a way frosted bulbs can't replicate.
This makes clear bulbs the default choice for chandeliers, pendant clusters, wall sconces, and any fixture where the bulb is a design element. Modern LED filament bulbs in clear glass have brought back the vintage Edison aesthetic without the 40W power draw or 1000-hour lifespan.
The downside is glare. If you can see the bulb directly — in a bedside lamp, a desk lamp, or a low-hanging fixture at eye level — those bright visible filaments can be uncomfortable. In those situations, frosted is the better choice for visual comfort.
